ICC Hosts Joe Benevento for Author Reading, Book Signing March 3
The ICC English, Humanities, and Language Studies Department will host Dr. Joe Benevento for a poetry and fiction reading on Thursday, March 3, at 1 pm, in the Student Lounge on the East Peoria Campus. The author will read from his latest works, Expecting Songbirds: Selected Poems, 1983-2015 and Saving St. Teresa, a Cupelli Brothers Mystery.
Benevento’s poems, stories, essays and reviews have appeared in approximately 300 publications, including Poets & Writers, The Chattahoochee Review, Pearl, Wisconsin Review, Inkwell, South Dakota Review, RE: Arts & Letter, and Bilingual Review. His work has been nominated three times for Pushcart Prizes.
Benevento currently is a professor of English at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., where he teaches creative writing; American literature, including Latino/Latina and Latin American literature in translation; and mystery. He has served for many years as co-editor of the Green Hills Literary Lantern, a digital magazine published annually by Truman State, and also serves as director of creative writing.
The event is free and open to the public. Participants may bring their own books for signing or may purchase books at the event.
