Shingles Vaccine now available

The shingles vaccine (Zostavax) is available in Health Services for faculty, staff, retirees and spouses while supplies last.

Cost: $80

The shingles vaccine (Zostavax) is recommended only for a selected patient population.

Aged 60 years and older: The vaccine is recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory committee, and the FDA (Food & Drug Administration).
•Aged 50-59 years: At this time the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Advisory does not have a recommendation for routine use of shingles vaccine in this age group. However, the vaccine is approved by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) for those in this age group. This group will need an order/note from their physician stating they recommend the vaccine.

Kitchen safety and food safety are very important for your entire family. As you examine your own day to day kitchen practices, learn what keeping your kitchen safe means — from cleaning to taking food temperatures to properly thawing, chilling and separating foods.

Optimum Health Solutions is offering ICC an additional day to do Health Screenings for those who missed the original dates.

The Screenings will be offered –
October 16th on the East Peoria Campus in Rm. 212C

What should I expect the day of the screening?

The screening assessments will include a venous blood draw consisting of a complete lipid panel, metabolic profile, and complete blood count. TSH for Women over 40 and PSA for Men over 40 are included. Additionally, height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, body composition, and heart rate will also be assessed.

Flu Vaccine is here!

This year Health Services will be giving the Quadrivalent vaccine.

What is quadrivalent flu vaccine?
The quadrivalent flu vaccine is designed to protect against four different flu viruses; two influenza A viruses and two influenza B viruses.

The Flu Vaccine will be offered to ICC faculty, staff, retirees and spouses on the following dates and times:

As part of the ICC Wellness Works program, the fee for the vaccine will be $10.00 to all full-time and part-time employees, retirees and spouses.

As a reminder, retirees covered under Medicare can receive the vaccine free of charge from the health department or their personal physician.
