A Reminder about the “Green Button” Emergency Desktop Icon
The ICC Campus Police Department, in cooperation with Technology Services, reminds ICC employees with computer access that an emergency desktop icon called the “Green Button” is available as a means of enhancing employee safety and security.
Although one of the best means of reporting an emergency is to phone Campus Police at extension 5111 or at (309) 694-5111, there may be situations when a phone or phone signal is not available or it may be best to silently call for help. The Green Button provides a silent and covert means of requesting immediate emergency police assistance when phones or other communication modes are unavailable or inadvisable due to the circumstances of an incident.
The Green Button is optional for employees who wish to have the icon on their desktop. Once installed by Tech Services, the button will appear on any wired campus network desktop computer the employee logs onto.
