Parent Involvement & Resources
There are many ways you can participate in your child's activities at Illinois Central College Child Center. Your involvement at the Center can improve your child's education and child care experience. We are eager to welcome your family to our program.
Parent meetings are held at least twice a semester. We encourage you as a parent to join us. We would appreciate your input on any topics we discuss at our meetings. For us to better serve your children and encourage their ability to learn and grow, we would love for you to share any ideas you have with us to make our Center the best for your child.
Visit your child anytime and experience the many activities in which they are involved. Playing with your child, reading them a story, or joining them for snack/lunch can be fun. We encourage you to stop by anytime.
In-Class & Field Trip Participation
Sharing your talents with the children can be a great way to become more involved with your child and his/her friends. We love for parents to come and share their talents. We also welcome parents to join us on field trips as well. If you are interested please inform a staff member or make arrangements with the Center Manager.
Watch for periodic newsletters and notes of information to inform you of the activities we will be doing, upcoming events, and informational articles.
The center has books, toys, games, videos and other materials available to parents on child growth and development, discipline, and educational activities to enjoy at home with your child. There are also many children's books to help them understand and cope with special circumstances, such as death, divorce, or fears. The lending library is located in the Hallway Next to the Hourly Room. You may check any of these resources out from the Center Manager.
Parent-staff communication can take place at arrival and departure, or through phone calls. Inside your child's classroom you will find:
- Daily Attendance Sheets
- Weekly Breakfast, Lunch and Snack Menu
- Notice of Upcoming Events
- Posted Schedule of your child's daily activities
- Lesson Plans
- Daily Report (Full-Time Only)
The center has an observation window as well as a video monitoring system in place in each of the classrooms. This allows you to view your child's activities without them knowing you are present. We encourage you to stop by at any time to room 127B to take a look at how your child has adapted to their classroom and to experience his/her daily activities. The Center Manager can assist you with these unique features at any time.
