The ICC Singers is a select group of combined voices presenting thirty or more performances within the community each year. Selection is based on auditions beginning in August and extending through the first two weeks of the fall semester.
Concert Band is a non-auditioned group open to students with previous band or orchestral experience who play wind or percussion instruments.
Jazz Band conducts auditions at the beginning of the fall semester for experienced musicians of brass, woodwind, guitar, piano and percussion instruments. This performance group plays both published and original music throughout the community.
Forensics is a comprehensive program of speech activities open to all members of the student body on a non-audition basis and includes competitive college tournaments throughout Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Ohio.
Individual events include Oral Interpretation, Poetry, Drama, Original Scripts, Salesmanship, Rhetorical Criticism and Television Speech, as well as Impromptu, Extemporaneous, Informative and Persuasive Speaking. Group competition includes Readers Theater, Debate and Discussion.
Theater buffs can put their talents to work on stage and behind the scenes. On-stage practice in acting, as well as backstage involvement in scenic design and construction, lighting, publicity, costuming, properties and make-up serve to heighten awareness and enrich cultural background in appreciation for the theater.
Auditions are held early in September and February for each semester's major production. Students are provided additional experiences in experimental theater including acting, production and video techniques.
