Women’s Basketball – Cougars Roll vs. William Penn JV

Cougars Roll vs WPU jv

Balanced scoring and solid defense were the keys in #10 ICC women’s basketball 84-55 win over William Penn University JV on Thursday (Feb. 9) in Oskaloosa, IA.  The Cougars placed five players in double figures and limited the Lady Statesmen to 32% shooting on the evening.

After a bit of a sluggish start, the teams played to a 7-all tie on baskets by sophomores Sommer Burgard, Brandi Fier, and Brianna Henson. The Cougars found their groove as Krystal Walker, Henson, Fier, and Jasmine Elliott combined to help ICC take an 18-14 lead after the first period.

Fier started the second quarter off with a three-pointer to spark an 11-4 run to put the Cougars up 29-18. ICC ran their sets well and found scoring and solid defense from many players to take a 42-24 halftime lead.

The Cougars kept things rolling in the second half, running their offensive sets and working on a variety of defenses to get the win.
