Women’s Basketball Falls at Moberly
The ICC women’s basketball team fell 67-50 to Moberly Area CC on Saturday in Missouri. The Cougars were outplayed in every facet of the game and shot themselves in the foot with 25 turnovers (mostly unforced), missing 13 free throws and several layups on the afternoon. The tone was set from the get-go, as the Greyhounds raced out to a 9-2 lead before the Cougars could get their engine running. ICC wasted several chances to get going offensively, but turned the ball over eight out of their first 19 possessions, and found themselves down 22-12 after the first quarter. The 2nd period wasn’t much better, and MACC took a 34-23 halftime lead.
The Cougars turned the ball over on their first two possessions to start the half, while the Greyhounds scored, leading to an 8-1 run to put Moberly up 39-23. ICC continued to struggle, allowing MACC to push their lead to 20 points at 57-37 at the end of the third. The Cougars had a chance to whittle their deficit to 13 midway through the 4th period, but a missed layup blew that opportunity and Moberly capitalized and closed out the game with a 17-point win.
