Chicago’s famed Second City brings its Dysfunctional Holiday Revue to ICC on Nov. 26

Chicago’s legendary comedy theatre, The Second City, will appear November 26 at 7:30 pm at the Illinois Central College Performing Arts Center, located on the East Peoria Campus. The Second City’s Dysfunctional Holiday Revue delivers a healthy dose of seasonal satire where neither holiday film classics, family gatherings nor Christmas carols are too sacred for a show that is the perfect alternative to the same old holiday performances.
The performance is rated R for adult themes.
Founded in Chicago in 1959, The Second City has become the premier training ground for the comedy world’s best and brightest. Their alumni list reads like a who’s who of American comedy, as it includes: Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Peter Boyle, Harold Ramis, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Martin Short, John Candy, Bonnie Hunt, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Horatio Sanz, Ryan Stiles, Keegan-Michael Key, Jack McBrayer, Jason Sudeikis, Vanessa Bayer, Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong. Strong appeared on stage at ICC with Second City in 2011.
Not only will The Second City’s Dysfunctional Holiday Revue provide audiences with the chance to see comedy stars in the making, but they will also have the opportunity to see hilarious satire and cutting-edge improvisation, all with a special holiday slant. It’s a fast-paced, interactive comedy revue filled with style and wit, where even Rudolph is fair game.
The performance is presented by the Arts at ICC. The Arts at ICC has a rich history of enhancing the arts community and expanding education beyond the classroom. Arts at ICC presents more than 500 exhibits, performances, lectures, rehearsals, meetings, master classes, clinics, seminars, receptions, orientations, forums, auditions and tournaments annually.
