Culinary students from East Peoria Community High School were awarded 1st prize in the 2017 Central Illinois High School Chopped Competition held February 24-25 at the ICC Culinary Arts Institute at the Peoria Campus.

Student chefs from five area high schools faced off ICC’s first culinary competition featuring area high school students showing an interest in professional cooking. Teams of three were given selected ingredients and tasked with planning, preparing and cooking, and presenting plates to be evaluated by a blind panel of judges.
Teams from Dunlap High School, East Peoria Community High School, Midland High School, Pekin Community High School, and Woodruff Career and Technical Center competed in the first round of competition on Friday. Teams from Woodruff Career and Technical Center and East Peoria Community High School advanced to the championship round on Saturday.
